Title means 'The Devil on/of the G String.' Yes basically the Devil that resides on the G string of this particular Violin. |
If you get interested in reading this eroge at any part of this post, you must read this post to the end. Or rather read the end of this post.
So with that said let's begin.
G-Senjou no Maou...It's name basically translates to The Devil on the G String.
Now the title wouldn't make any sense until you see 'Chapter 5' on the screen so don't give too much thought into it.
First of all this game is an Eroge. Which means there will be scenes and Cgs not safe for work. One thing I learnt about H-scenes is that they can be skipped without any hesitations. To state my point - There is absolutely no intelligent dialogue in H scenes. Not at all. Any conversation during a H scene during the Good Ends of routes will not have anything to do with improving the relationship nor the plot.
I'll summon the synopsis from vndb.org since I suck at introductions.
"You play the role of Azai Kyosuke, the son of a legendary gangster infamous in the underworld. You spend your time listening to Bach, playing God at school and covertly working for your stepfather, a ruthless financial heavyweight. This idyllic existence is broken when two individuals appear in the city - a beautiful girl named Usami Haru, with hair you could get lost in for days, and a powerful international gangster known only as Maou. Almost without delay, the two begin a deadly cat-and-mouse game, bringing you and your friends into the crossfire. Plotting, political intrigue and layer upon layer of interlocking traps are the weapons in this epic battle of wits."
G-Senjou no Maou basically tries to portray a world of dark philosophy about humanity and salvation. There is salvation in seeking Hell, likewise there will be vengeance only satisfied by Heaven.
The entire story is played out in one city somewhere located in Japan (I don't even know if that city actually exists since I can't remember the name.) which consists of an developing countryside, a modern central shopping district and the other half of the city where the rich and powerful resides.
The Story itself starts out pretty slow paced with fairly uninteresting characters...but the comedy itself is just too epic. Be prepared to be assaulted by the most cliche lines ever to walk the path of fiction in a certain tsundere's route.
Like really? WHO IN THE WORLD SAYS THIS LINE IN ANY TIME AND SPACE?!!?! Rein enforces the fact that she is inexperienced with the World though. |
The first face off. Sit tight and let your soul be stolen away by the Devil for the next thirty hours. |
The characters themselves are pretty lovable for the most.
The antagonist Maou is simply delicious mainly BECAUSE of his god damm seiyuu is that of Lelouch in Code Geass.(Sexy powerful dark voice anyone?)And because he's actually the dark side of...
Another really notable one is the King of Beasts, the Monster Yakuza Boss Azai Gonzou. His voice, appearance just reeks of the sheer badass ultimate power. Afterall who in the World would say something like "I don't need a goddamm funeral! Just get out there and slaughter all who would oppose me!" just after receiving a fatal wound?
So does that make our protagonist a useless unlikable fag? No no no. Not in the slightest. He might seem to be the most cowardly antisocial kid around at the beginning but just wait! Just like raising a child, you will never find out how he'll turn out if you don't stick with him to the end. As the Son of the King of Beasts, Azai Kyousuke will deliver his GAR evolution as he leaves behind all the others and concentrate onto his most important girl.(Protagonist & Gonzou kinda reminds me of the relationship Archer had with Shirou in F/SN Heavens feel route)
The non main heroine girls are just pretty common when standing next to the 'Hero'.
Tsubaki an impossibly innocent child which happens to attract your Abyss.
Kanon your half sister which is undoubtedly the daughter of Azai Gonzou with a really bad family situation.
Mizuha...sigh. Obvious Tsunderederedere. But grows up to be quite the splendid Icicle. And when that happens, you'll wish she stayed at being a child like dere.
Usami Haru the main heroine will bring painful moments with the coldest of jokes. The most shameless heroine ever. The most ecstasy driven fighter of wits. The most precious Jewel which you will die for by abandoning all the previous heroines.
The sounds are awesome. That's all I can say. Afterall I don't know the original masterpieces by Wagner nor Bach(I don't listen to classical music yes?)
Lastly I would give G-Senjou no Maou a 10/10 just for the plot itself. But to truly feel it's worth perfection, you must follow the end of post instructions. The fact that it is an eroge has no bearings on the power of the plot. In fact I have always thought sex scenes were redundant and should be done away with.(But in this case I must shut up grudgingly because they just went ahead and made it important to the plot)
And so to sum it up, there are four routes in the game. Each one for each heroine.
Salvation through saving others. 7/10
Love for one's family. 6/10
Pure love can sometimes pierce through even the darkest of evils. 8/10 (Like seriously? You have the option to fuck the innocent little girl or love her? How kind of you to PLAINLY lay out the path of dark & light.) Oh yeah and the most comedic of all routes. You WILL be laughing in despair.
And the final one...the true end...the only way to describe it is It is the Icing, the Cake and the Strawberry all in one. It's just the absolute best. 10/10. Nothing would be good enough to do it credit. It's just what happens when you pull Hell onto Earth and let potentially GAR,Insane and Powerful characters go hunting. Mix in some Yakuzas and Terrorists and you are good to go.
Okay that is my amateur review. I have refrained from spamming CGs due to the nature of spoilers. So here's the thing you have been looking for. English Patch here. Frankly speaking I don't really remember if there's where I got it so if it turns out funny, just drop me something by the comment box. I will give you my torrent file.
Now read this. This is what I warned you for at the start of the review.
Due to the nature of G-Senjou no Maou's plot structure, you MUST RESIST THE URGE TO HOOK UP WITH THE BLACK HAIRED GIRL USAMI HARU FROM THE START!!! I know you will charge straight at her throat. So precisely for that reason don't do it. Agonize yourself and make due with the uninteresting characters first. Or else you will regret it after drowning in Hell.
So follow this walkthrough from the beginning to the end. Start from Tsubaki's bad end then her good end before moving onto Kanon's bad end then her good one and continue with Mizuha's bad end and Good end...
Feel the guilt at the girls you are not saving and am abandoning as you drag yourself along the the beaten path, towards the absolute end. But remember, there is a reason for every action done. Surely no one is worth sacrificing everyone else for right?
No. You are as a matter of fact going to become Emiya Shirou. You are going to give up the World just to save one precious jewel. So yes. Follow this and you will undoubtedly orgasm at the end.
And just for the record, for those who find the kissing scene under the moonlight a perfect end, please close down the game once the credits starts to roll.(No don't close it. I am joking.) Because a ninja Epilogue of the Devil is just around the corner.
So here. Please go ahead and enjoy this as much as I did.
